Here we go again

January 12, 2008 at 4:36 pm (This is why I got married) (, )

Tony is sick.  We just got done with the plague that wouldn’t die and now we’re starting all over.  He started feeling crappy last Monday and went to the Navy doc on Tuesday for meds.  They said something about how 3 people came in yesterday with the same thing, so they did a quick check and tossed him some meds that didn’t help.  Bye bye now.  So he took everything they gave him exactly when he was supposed to for 5 days and he just got worse and worse.  So after the baby waking up a million times last night and me finally falling asleep for a whole 30 minutes before Tony woke me up to say “The baby’s awake.” like he can’t change a damn diaper I told him we were going to the ER and they were going to fix him because he is useless to me.  (Why yes that IS the longest sentence ever.)

So we went.  At 7am.  In the morning.  I get that most of you are all “7am…what about it?  Not like it’s early or anything.  What’s the big deal?”  The big deal is that I didn’t get much sleep and we don’t get up at 7am.  Ever.  The earliest I’ll get up is 8:30.   So it sucked.  That’s all.

The good thing about going to the ER at 7am is that all the normal people are still sleeping, so we were the only ones there.  In and out.  Just like that.  Turns out Tony has an upper respiratory infection (yeah yeah we knew that and?) and acute bronchitis.  No huge thing really.  He’ll live.

The best best best part about it was the steroid shot the gave him.  In the ass.  Ha!  It was great.  He’s all “The navy makes me get shots all the time, I’ll be fine blah blah blah” and then he was such a big baby.  It was awesome.  I know I sound mean, but I had to have a rhogam shot when I was pregnant and ass shots suck.  He was not sympathetic.  Pay back is a mean little bitch, idn’t she? (Yes, “idn’t”.  I did it on purpose.)  I laughed.  He kept saying he couldn’t move and he wouldn’t be able to sit and for the next 3 hours he kept asking if it would really stop hurting.   Men are the biggest whiners ever.  Wah Wah Wah.

So the doc (who was fast and nice and great and very pregnant) said to stop taking some previously prescribed meds and here, have some new stuff that’ll work.  Hooray.  They gave him this cough stuff that knocked him on his ass (heh) about 10 minutes after he took it.  So he’s asleep.  Which is good since he really hasn’t slept well lately.  And I’m letting him.  I figure the faster he gets better, the faster I can pawn the baby off and relax.

*Side story:  I went back to the bedroom to give him his antibiotic.  It was the kind you have to push through the foil.  Well, I pushed and it flew up into the air and disappeared.  I mean really disappeared!  I searched everywhere for it.  So I’m looking and looking and Eliana starts cracking up at me.  Mommy losing Daddy’s medicine and her mind along with it is the FUNNIEST THING EVER.  It was kinda awesome.  She has the best sense of humor.
