She will bite you

Remember how tooth #3 came in? And remember how I said I was pretty sure #4 was on it’s way? I was right. It popped through today (2/3/08 for posterity’s sake). It’s really just barely through and she’s still fussy and not sleeping well. Tylenol helps, but I don’t want to keep her drugged up, so I only pull it out when I have to. I hope I get a nice long break before we start working on #5.

Speaking of milestone type things, Eliana pulled herself to standing without my help today. Good for her. Bad for me since she tried to throw herself off the couch in the process. She’s quick and agile like that. Looks like child-proofing needs to be done very very soon. I’ve been putting it off for a while. I have some stuff, but I don’t really know what all I need to get other than a long gate to block off the kitchen. Where the knives live. And I need some kind of baby jail or something. I know that sounds mean, but it’s really for her protection and my ability to pee sometimes without picturing forks being stuck in light sockets.

Napping is going awesomely. The last 4 crib naps have involved ZERO minutes of crying. This is huge progress. And now that I’ve gone and blogged it, I’m sure it’s ruined. But still. 4 naps without crying is great. In fact, I tried to take a snuggly nap with her and she would have nothing to do with it, but fell asleep 5 minutes after I put her in her crib. Guess she was ready for the transition after all.

I don’t think I’m ever going to be ready for these changes. It means she’s growing up and I love it and hate it. I know this is incredibly cheesy, but I can not believe how fast time is going by. I desperately want it to slow down. Just a little.

Yay naps! Seriously naps were key to winning the sleep wars for us. Once we got the naps in order, the night thing totally turned around for us. And oh my gosh I can’t believe she’s got 4 teeth already, my almost nine month old still is waiting for tooth #1.
