A list in bullets

December 20, 2008 at 2:10 pm (All me, Lost without you, My blog is not universal, Parenting is hard, This is why I got married)

  • I like how “a list in bullets” sounds like I’ve created some kind of fancy art.
  • I’ve had several bloggable things come up, but I don’t like to blog when I haven’t responded to comments from my last post.
  • I still haven’t responded, but I swear I will.
  • Start checking your email.
  • But not yet.
  • Eliana refused her second nap yesterday and greatly delayed her first nap today.  I’m not sure what’s going on with her, but I don’t like it.  We’ll be visiting family soon and I don’t want to have to deal with the transistion right now.  Please please please make this be a weird 2 day Thing and not the Beginning of Something.
  • Tony and I have been cleaning the house like crazy, trying to get everything in order before we leave.  It’s not really going well.  Progress is being made, but it’s slow and time is quickly running out.  I really shouldn’t even be blogging right now.

And now a question.  How can you tell when your significant other is lying?  I don’t mean a big lie necessarily, but any lie.  Tony does an eyebrow thing.  He has dishonest eyebrows.

Toddlers and puppies

December 13, 2008 at 12:54 am (Eliana cuteness) ()

We’re puppy sitting tonight for friends of ours.  Our last puppy experience did not go well, but this time is very different.  For one,  Eliana can get away if this puppy tries to chew on her.  Last time she wasn’t very mobile, so she had to endure the puppy nibbles.  The puppy we’re watching is 6 weeks old and the teeny tiniest thing you’ve ever seen.  Eliana can take him.  And most importantly, we get to give him back tomorrow.

I’m not so certain I’ll want to though.  He is so sweet and such a cuddly little thing.  He sleeps a lot.  It reminds me of Eliana’s newborn stage.  Only easier.  And maybe with more poop.

And the poop!  I’ve never seen cuter poop in my life.  Teeny little blobs of puppy poop.  It helps that Tony cleans up after the puppy.  It also helps that he has, so far, only pooped on the tile.  Such a considerate thing.

Eliana has been surprisingly gentle with him.  Suprisingly, because she is most definitely not gentle with the cats.  But they’re faster and bigger, so I’m not as worried about them.  She loves the puppy.  It’s so cute seeing her sign “dog” and get so excited about him.

Meet Scooter.

Santa Baby

Eliana went to see Santa today. She didn’t do as well as last year, but at least she didn’t cry. I have to say, I’m a little surprised there weren’t more smiles. She was so chatty and happy while we were waiting in line.  I don’t think she quite knew what to think of the furry man.  Mostly she sat there are stared.  I tried everything to get her to smile.  It took singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider to get that little smirk.

I think Santa was a little taken by her.  He said, “What’s your shirt say?  Santa’s favorite?  Well you sure are!”  He also has a slight southern accent which just makes it all the more adorable.  He was impressed when she signed “Thank you” when he gave her a candy cane.  It is pretty cute when she’s all polite like that.
